When I approached making artwork again, I meditated on the lemons. Through the process of looking under magnification, I observed the lemons and drew the etching plates. The color signifies my mother’s joy and will to live with style, humor, generosity and grace. This process of intense magnification and quiet reflection mirrored, in some sense, my grief. The lemon etchings came to signify my mother and her four children and the coming together, isolating and merging that occurred with her care.
