The Boise State University Resilience Cooperative builds individual and community resilience skills through facilitated workshops in the visual art discipline of printmaking.

The Resilience Cooperative is a collaboration arising between Jill AnnieMargaret, Professor, School of the Arts and Alyssa Reynolds, MSW, LSW, Clinical Assistant Professor, School of Social Work.

The community/populations served are introduced to the wonder and creative potential of printmaking while learning the biology of stress reactions on the nervous system and inner resilience to bring it back into balance, building resilience skills and improving emotional and physical well-being. Mindfulness, empathy and improving relationships with self and other through visual art are central to the cooperative.

The Boise State Resilience Cooperative's mission is to promote well being and resilience within individuals, groups and the community through the arts. According to the American Psychology Association, "Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress — such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors. It means "bouncing back" from difficult experiences."

In November 2022, the Cooperative will be hosting Social Workers employed by the State of Idaho Child Welfare and Family Services. The workshops focus on individual and community well being. The Printmaking lab and processes provide an engaging and enriching container for this experience.
