In 2003 Jill Fitterer created a mural for the International Bird Rescue Research Center's Southern California Facility. The Los Angeles Oiled Bird Care Center is located in San Pedro. The twenty-eight by seven foot mural was created from a smaller linocut carved by Fitterer. Inspired by bold murals in Belfast, Northern Ireland, her mural gives a unique and magical character to the facility's education center.
